Addendum to the 1982 Erice Manifesto

Erice (Italy) November 11th, 2023

In 1982, the «Erice Statement», was drawn up jointly by Antonino Zichichi, and by the Nobel Prizes Paul A.M. Dirac and Pëtr Leonidovič Kapitza at the Erice «Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture», to invite scientists to act against the holocaust risk and to reduce nuclear proliferation. Since then, more than 100,000 scientists signed it.
About 40 years later, the Erice Manifesto is still very actual, being the world again plagued by a strong polarization between superpowers, with increasing areas of war and of regional crisis.
On the event of the 60th Anniversary of the “Ettore Majorana” Centre, an addendum to the 1982 Erice Manifesto was prepared, to renew its spirit, and to highlight the independence and neutrality of science and scientists as effective peace communicators.
We therefore invite scientists and policy makers of all over the world, to sign this Addendum.
